Rise & shine with this delicious coffee smoothie! A pick me up for tired mornings – without the jitters of plain coffee. Plus, who doesn’t want to start their day with chocolate?

Personally, I never drank coffee until my daughter was born. I only drink a couple of cups per week now, but in those newborn days of exhaustion, it really became something I looked forward to.

Like most, I was not totally immune from some of the negative effects of coffee. That’s why I came up with this coffee smoothie recipe to still enjoy the perks as a tired new mom without feeling on edge or having digestive changes.

The protein and healthy fats in this recipe slow down digestion and absorption, making you less prone to a sudden spike in energy and a caffeine crash shortly after. It also tastes soooooo good – you’ll want to jump out of bed to go and make it!

Ayurvedic Perspective on Coffee Smoothie

If you want to find out what Ayurveda really has to say about coffee drinking, read more here!

Ice isn’t recommended in Ayurveda as it can weaken your digestive fire (agni). This recipe includes a small amount to compensate for the hot shot of coffee to give a more balanced temperature, closer to room temp.

Here’s What You Need

  • Almond milk
  • Vegan chocolate protein
  • Cashew butter
  • Cacao powder
  • Espresso shot
  • Cinnamon
